May table saw makes a funny noise?

In 10 Inch Table Saw Blades Tagged , , , 4 Comments

I purchased a used Craftsman 10″ table saw and I’m enjoying using it. It works fine. However it makes a strange intermittent grinding noise after I shut the switch off and it is slowing down. It doesn’t do it when the blade is off the saw. Is this normal? The bearings are all sealed and permanently lubricated. There doesn’t seem to be any play in the main bearing at all.

Have you tried a different blade? Maybe the balance of the blade is a little off and as it’s costing to a stop at a certain rpm there’s a vibration problem.

Take out the blade and see if it still makes the sound.
It may be a bad blade as previously stated.

    Loose pulleys.
    Belt too tight.
    Bad belt.
    Loose belt
    Wrong belt.
    Blade not tight.
    Blade washers not on right.
    Warped blade.
Shaft keys missing or not all the way in.
Some or all of the above.
Run the motor w /out the belt.
If its still grumpy its the motor .
    Look for lube points anyhow.
    Best regards
